Day 195: We wake at 5:30, shower, make coffee and pack. We drop the key cards at the front desk and leave. We drive to our start just south of Glens Falls and Bob is walking at 7:55. There is a high fog at the start. We travel forward and then I drive into Saratoga Springs and park the car at 15.9 km on the main street. Bob calls. He had to leave Hwy 9 at a sign that says ‘No Pedestrians’. He went to a side road and he comes out at the intersection where I am parked. I walk with him until we are out of town and the sidewalk ends. I walk back to the car – a total of just over 6 km. I see a sign that says Saratoga Springs is a ‘Preserve America Community’. A good reason there are so many old and beautiful houses.
I drive to a parking spot at 27.5 km and make lunch. Bob arrives at 1:00 and talks to a TV station in Albany. He eats and then he leaves at 1:50. We move forward again and I drive to 40 km. Bob arrives at 3:45 and we drive 28 km into Albany to Carol’s house. We find a parking spot directly in front of her house. As we arrive, so does Carol’s friend Don and he helps Bob carry in our things. Carol is an artist and her home reflects her love of colour and style. We meet her two indoor cats – Ace and Oops. Carol invites us to share dinner.
We go upstairs about 7:30 to have showers and get our email. I type up a few days of notes and we go to sleep about 9:30.
