Day 190: We get up, shower, pack and leave at 6:00. We will drop in later today to meet and thank Wayne and take his picture. We drive in the rain and dark about 10 km to a gas station with coffee. Cell coverage comes and goes in this area. Bob talks to Whitney, from the Elizabethtown paper. She plans to meet him at 8:00 on the road for photos. Bob starts walking at 7:05 at 14.7 km north of Elizabethtown. It is foggy and misty.
Bob goes past at 8:30. He has talked to Whitney and we will meet her at the town hall in Lewis for photos. She takes a picture of the two of us outside Lewis Town Hall on my camera. Then Bob continues walking. It starts to sprinkle again at 9:10. He puts on the fleece. We stop fro breakfast at 10:00 and then I pick up water and groceries. At 20 km, Bob changes to a new pair of shoes to start breaking them in. He puts on dry socks as well.
At 26.9 km, we turn into the Westport Hotel parking lot. Wayne is not there so we leave a card and I take a picture of Bob and the Westport Hotel. There is a lot of work put into maintaining the old buildings, and to the beautifying and maintenance of gardens. There are many plaques for points of historic significance. We eat lunch at a park and Bob continues. I stop at 40.1 km and Bob arrives at 3:40. We drive 5 km into Port Henry and find the Kings Inn. We meet Michele and she checks us into Room 6. It is a lovely old inn with no in-room TV, phone or internet. We are billeted here for the next two nights.
After showers, we go down to the dining room. It is a busy Friday night. The food is very good. We go up to the room and Kevin turns on the gas fireplace for warmth and ambience. We go to bed at 9:30. The night is very dark and very quiet. Stars glitter in the cold air. There are no snow showers as were predicted. It is a clear night.
