Day 184: Today is the first day of the Thanksgiving long weekend. We are up at 5:20 and leave fairly quickly and quietly. We fill the car with gas and Bob navigates our way to our start. We only get side-tracked a few times. The freeways have limited exits. Bob starts walking at 8:15. It is cool and cloudy this morning and Bob is walking at a very fast pace.
I go into a post office and extend our mail forwarding for another three months. Everywhere I go in Montreal, I run into people who make every effort to speak to me in English, and to be helpful. I am grateful as my own high school French is very rusty.
There is a short but heavy downpour about 2:00 and Bob sits in the car until it is over – only 5 minutes. We continue along Hwy 148 until we cross Riviere des Prairies – from Laval into Montreal. I stop at 39.9 km at Boul. Henri Bourassa. Bob gets to the car at 4:20 and we drive on. We drive a potential route for tomorrow – down Victoria and through the lovely Westmount residential area. We will check out the Mercier Bridge out of Montreal tomorrow morning.
We return to the house and change. We drive with Suzanne to her yoga centre. We have a light dinner and then attend a presentation. It is very interesting and the French is translated in an earpiece for English speaking visitors. We drive back to the house and talk for a while. Then Bob and I go to bed about 10:45. A late night for us.
