Day 182: We are up very early and leave for a fourth day of walking. There is dense fog as we drive in the dark to Tim Horton’s for breakfast and coffee. It is 17.5 km to our start and Bob is walking at 7:15. Once we get back to Lachute, I stop and buy water and a few more groceries. We have lunch in the shade of two giant pines at the entrance to a hayfield. The highway is narrow with very narrow shoulders and there is not always a good place to pull over. Also the drivers tend to go very fast.
We drive through St. Hermas, which on the map is close to Mirabelle Airport but we don’t see any planes. We continue on Hwy 148 and I park at 40.0 km. Bob arrives at 3:20. We drive towards Montreal and discover we are 16.5 km west of St. Eustache. We take a slow scenic route into Montreal and call Suzanne for final directions to her house. Suzanne is the sister of a friend of Bob’s. She is very excited to see us and shows us to our guest room. We bring in almost all of our luggage. We will be here for a few days.
Suzanne gives us dinner and we talk for a while.
She is completely bilingual. Then we have showers and get ready for bed at 9:30. Tomorrow is a much needed rest day.
